The Manezh, formally the Imperial Stables, is just two steps away from the Kremlin and Red Square. The closest Metro Stations are again Biblioteka im. Lenin, Okhotny Riad or Teatralnaya.
Now the Manezh is one of Moscow’s major exhibition halls but in the past before the Revolution it was the place for Imperial Army’s mounted training the Count Leo Tolstoy learned to ride a military mount in his youth as a cadet but in his old age, he learned to ride a bicycle here as well. Now the square in front of Mazezh is a favorite place for Moscow’s young people and tourists for just hanging out. There is even a fancy shopping mall located right under the square 3 floors down. Here you can find just about everything from stores and cafes, to boutiques and restaurants.
